For this major renovation in Weaverville, North Carolina, the architect envisioned slate-colored Ginkgo tiles and a solitary Rosette tile above the range,
all to be installed in a background of terra-cotta field tile.
We felt it would be interesting to heavily texture the field tiles
rubbing the dark glaze into the crevices to carry the darker
palette across the backsplash. While the decorative relief tiles
are at a minimum, the impact of the textured tiles, matching the color
of the slate countertop, is particularly effective.
