||We knew from the start that we were in good hands in asking Diana to design the new fireplace for our little cottage. We had seen and admired her work for years – at shows and the Moses Cone Mansion. Once we saw the work in her studio, we knew that our hunch was right: we didn’t need to give her a detailed blueprint, we wanted her ideas.
So, we described our need and gave Diana some rough architectural drawings to look at, plus photos of a few fireplaces and other tiles we liked. Really, these were nothing more than hints. Instead of being frustrated or confused by our vague request, she launched right in.
The result? Diana gave us a one-of-a-kind fireplace design with true Arts & Crafts style. Each tile was formed and glazed by hand, and then individually set. But despite all of this complexity, the whole surround comes together to look simple and elegant. The effect is stunning, our cottage looks great, and we’re thrilled!
